Women's Basketball Defeats Queens College

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona women's basketball won for the second consecutive time on Monday defeating Queens College 83-71 at the Rolle Activity Center. The Lumberjacks had four players in double figures led by Caty Huntington's 17 points.
"It was important for us to come out and even our record at 2-2 before we open up our Thanksgiving tournament," said head coach Laurie Kelly. "We didn't play to the best of our ability tonight but we pulled out a win and that is all that matters."
NAU (2-2) traded runs with Queens College throughtout the game but a 7-0 run midway through the second half put the Lumberjacks ahead for good.
Huntington was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field including 2-of-2 from three point range. Amy Patton and Tyler Stephens-Jenkins added 15 points a piece while Vickie Toney contributed a sesaon-high 12 points.
The Lumberajcks shot just 39.5 percent for the game but collected 20 offensive rebounds to secure the team's second win in a row after defeating North Dakota State on Friday.
"We are getting better each time out and that is all we can try and do as we prepare for the Big Sky Conference season," Kelly said. "We have a long stretch of home games and need to keep picking up wins."
The women will host Binghamton, Central Michigan, and Drake at the annual Thanksgiving tournament on Friday, Nov. 26 and Saturday, Nov. 27.
