Women's Basketball Falls to Portland State, 74-56

PORTLAND, Ore. – Northern
Arizona women's basketball dropped its fifth straight game
with a 74-56 loss to Portland State at the Peter W. Stott Center on
Friday. Freshman guard Amy Patton recorded her second straight
double-double in the loss.
NAU (5-20, 3-9 BSC) was unable to complete the sweep over Portland
State (14-11, 8-4 BSC) falling to the Vikings for the first time
this year. The Lumberjacks defeated 86-80 in Flagstaff on January
16.
Patton notched her 11th double-double of the year with 18 points
and 12 rebounds. Both totals were game-highs. The Tempe, Ariz.,
product has more than twice as many double doubles as any other Big
Sky player. Patton was the only Lumberjack in double figures.
The Lumberjacks shot just 38.3-percent for the game allowing
Portland State to shoot 49.2-percent. The Vikings finished with
three players in double figures led by Kelly Marchant's 14
points off the bench.
NAU made 7-of-12 three-point attempts continuing to improve from
long range. The 58.3-percent three-point shooting was the best
total of the season for the Lumberjacks.
NAU will play Eastern Washington in Cheney, Wash., on Saturday at
8:05 p.m. The Lumberjacks lost to the Eagles 66-52 in Flagstaff on
January 14.
