FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Northern Arizona women's basketball pushed Northern Colorado for two halves but fell, 62-56, in the closing minutes at the Rolle Activity Center on Saturday.  The Lumberjacks honored four seniors in the final home game of the 2010-11 season.  

The Lumberjacks rose to the occasion on Senior Night against the Big Sky Conference's top team after acknowledging seniors Tiffany Amos, Jenna Galloway, Melissa Spaich, and Vickie Toney prior to the game.

"It is sad to see our seniors go," head coach Laurie Kelly said.  "They have been unbelievable representatives of our institution and athletic department.  They are wonderful student-athletes.  Hopefully, they leave their mark on the people below them who can follow in their footsteps."

NAU (10-18, 5-10 BSC) led 56-54 with just under three minutes to play aided by a 44 percent shooting percentage in the second half and 5-of-9 (56 percent) shooting from three-point range.

The Lumberjacks were down 35-25 early in the second half but a 15-0 run put the women up by five points with just under 12 minutes to play.  Northern Colorado came back to tie the game at 40-40 and pushed its lead back to five points before NAU came back to tie the game late at 56 all.

The women were outscored 8-0 to end the game, but Amos turned in her best performance of the season in her final home game as a Lumberjack with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

"I felt good and it was my last chance to go as hard as I could," said Amos.  "I am happy we played as hard as we did.  I am upset we lost because I know we could have won with a great crowd behind us." 

Galloway scored five points with two rebounds in her final home game.  Toney had three points and five assists while Spaich got in foul trouble playing six minutes ending the night with a block and steal in her final game.

"I have never been this nervous for a game my legs were shaking I so excited," Galloway said.  "It was awesome to have the support of the fans.  It helped us get hyped up and excited for the game.  It was a great atmosphere and I had a lot of fun.  We played our hearts out and left it all on the court."

The Lumberjacks shot 38 percent as a team on Saturday while Northern Colorado hit 43 percent of its shots.  The Bears were led by Lauren Oosdyke's game-high 21 points.  Amos' 13 points was tied for the team high with sophomore Tyler Stephens-Jenkins.

With the loss, the Lumberjacks were eliminated from postseason contention and close out the regular season at Sacramento State on March 3.
