NAU’s Maurice Davison Honored as ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 23, 2017) – Northern Arizona University junior cornerback Maurice Davison has been named as ROOT SPORTS Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, for the period ending Oct. 21, conference officials announced on Monday.

Davison's selection marks the fifth consecutive week that at least one Lumberjack has received a Big Sky Player of the Week award.

NAU (5-2, 4-0 Big Sky) has received a total of six Big Sky Player of the Week honors through the first seven games of 2017.

The junior cornerback pulled down an interception for the third time in as many games and recorded a team-leading 10 tackles (five solo, five assists), including 1.5 tackles for loss in the win over UC Davis last Saturday.

The Lumberjack defense limited a UC Davis offense that averaged 351.5 yards per game entering the contest to just 207 yards.

For the season, Davison is tied for the team-lead with three interceptions and ranks sixth on the squad with 32 tackles (22 solo, 10 assists) while adding five pass breakups over the first seven games of 2017.

Davison was also selected as the College Madness Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week. 

The No. 22/ RV Lumberjacks are home for the second straight game this weekend as they host Sacramento State (4-3, 3-1 Big Sky) in a key Big Sky Conference clash on Saturday, Oct. 28 in a 4 p.m. kickoff from the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
