Lumberjack Football Rises to No. 16 in FCS Coaches Poll

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 30, 2017) – The Northern Arizona football team moved up eight spots to No. 16 in the latest FCS Coaches Top 25, which was released Monday, Oct. 30.
The Lumberjacks, who are currently on a six-game winning streak, earned 201 points in the poll – 57 behind No. 15 Samford.
In addition, this week's STATS FCS Top 25 saw Northern Arizona ranked for the first time this season as the Lumberjacks checked in at No. 18 while receiving 1,134 points.
The pair of national rankings represented the highest that the 'Jacks have been ranked since they checked in at No. 8 on Nov. 30, 2013.
Northern Arizona currently boasts an overall record of 6-2 which includes a perfect 5-0 mark in Big Sky Conference action. The Lumberjacks' current six-game winning streak represents the program's longest since it won six consecutive during the 2013 campaign – which also marked the last time they qualified for the NCAA FCS Playoffs.
The 'Jacks defeated Sacramento State 37-17 this past Saturday behind a defense that recorded a pair of interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. In addition, the 'Jacks defense limited the Hornets to just 12 first downs and 233 total offensive yards.

Northern Arizona is one of four Big Sky teams ranked in both the FCS Coaches Poll and the STATS Top 25 along with Eastern Washington, Weber State and Southern Utah.
The Lumberjacks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4 as they hit the road to take on the University of Montana in a 2:30 p.m. MST kickoff from Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula.
The Big Sky clash between Northern Arizona and Montana will be televised live on ROOT Sports and will also be available via the Lumberjack Radio Network beginning with the pregame show at 1:30 p.m. MST.
