Quarterback Case Cookus Named to Midseason Watch List for CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Oct. 31, 2017) – Northern Arizona University sophomore quarterback Case Cookus has been named to the 36-player midseason watch list for the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS National Performer of the Year.

Cookus, the 2015 recipient of the CFPA National Performer of the Year award, is enjoying a standout season for the No. 16/18 Lumberjacks having totaled 2,631 passing yards and 19 touchdowns while committing just four interceptions over the first eight games of the 2017 season.

The Thousand Oaks, Calif., native has directed the Northern Arizona offense to 400 total yards or more in each of the last six games and seven of eight overall this season.  In addition, Cookus has tossed for at least 300 yards in five of eight games this season and has enjoyed a pair of 400-plus yard passing efforts.

The 2017 CFPA FCS National Performer of the Year Trophy is a 22-inch K-9 optic crystal tower with eight-inch crystal football on top.

All FCS players are eligible for the award. The winner will be announced January 10, 2018.

The Lumberjacks return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4 as they hit the road to take on the University of Montana in a 2:30 p.m. MST kickoff from Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula.

 The Big Sky clash between Northern Arizona and Montana will be televised live on ROOT Sports and will also be available via the Lumberjack Radio Network beginning with the pregame show at 1:30 p.m. MST.
