ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Eirene Granville, Brandy Walker, Worthy Goldman, Cora-Lynn von Dungern, Ellie Millard and Madi Moore picked up another winning record for the Lumberjacks this fall after going 8-1 in doubles and 9-9 in singles in the New Mexico Lobos Hidden Dual Invitational.

Walker stood out for the blue and gold going undefeated throughout the weekend in both singles at 3-0 and doubles at 3-0 paired with Moore.

"We are happy with everyone's progress this semester," Head Coach Maciej Bogusz said. "Our freshmen played well this weekend, and used a lot of things we have been working on in practice, which is great to see. We are starting to play as one team."

Northern Arizona competed along with University of Texas – El Paso, New Mexico State University and the hosts the University of New Mexico throughout the three-day tournament.

In doubles, the Lumberjacks were just one match away from going undefeated for the first time this season as a team. In addition to Walker and Moore, Granville and Millard also went 3-0 in doubles, while the freshmen duo Goldman and Von Dungern went 2-1, falling to New Mexico's Lauren Rich and Bronte Murgett 6-4 on Sunday.

In singles, Walker was the only Lumberjack to go 3-0 beating UTEP's Erandi Martinez, UNM's Diana Wong and NMSU's Vanessa Valdez while only dropping a single set in the three matches. Granville also led in the win column with two over UTEP's Maria Paula Medina and NMSU's Rebecca Keijzerwaard and falling to UNM's Ruth Copas.

Meanwhile the competing freshmen each went 1-2 individually, combining for four wins on the first day of the tournament.

Von Dungern and Goldman dominated their opponents on the first day; Von Dungern over UTEP's Milena Baigorria 6-2, 6-2 and Goldman over NMSU's Helena Colvee 6-1, 6-2. Moore and Millard also won on the first day; Moore over NMSU's Lindsay Harlas 6-7(0), 6-1, 6-4 and Millard over UNM's Natasha Munday 7-5, 6-4.

"We have a couple days to practice some things from this past weekend, and we are looking to carry this momentum into the last competition of the fall semester," Bogusz said. "Everyone is looking forward to gaining a little more experience, before we transition into the spring and Big Sky."

With one weekend of fall competition remaining for Bogusz and the Lumberjacks, this week of practice will prove very important in order to carry momentum into the spring semester. For full results from the New Mexico Hidden Dual Invitational click here.
