Men's Basketball / July 06, 2017
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona head men's basketball coach
Jack Murphy has been busy this offseason. After announcing a pair of Division I transfers on Monday, Murphy has now announced the addition of junior college transfers
Karl Harris and
Ruben Fuamba.
Harris, a native of Chicago, Ill., arrives at NAU after spending this past season at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa, where he helped the Warriors to a No. 12 ranking. Prior to that, Harris spent one year at LaSalle University appearing in 25 games as a freshman.
"Karl brings toughness, leadership and experience that will be a welcome addition to our program," Murphy said. "He has played in the Atlantic 10 conference and a high level junior college, which has prepared him well for his time here at NAU."
Fuamba arrives in Flagstaff after playing two years at Central Community College in Nebraska. During his second season, Fuamba averaged 12.7 points and a team-high 10.7 rebounds per game. His stellar play led him to earning National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America Third Team honors.
"Ruben brings great size and toughness to our front court," said Murphy. "He was an elite rebounder at the junior college level and we look for him to continue that here at NAU."
Harris and Fuamba join
Malcolm Allen (Las Vegas, Nev./Stanford),
Gino Littles (Phoenix, Arz./UTSA),
Lenell Henry (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park HS) and
Carlos Hines (Chicago, Ill./North Lawndale HS) as newcomers on the 2017-18 squad for the Lumberjacks.
