BOULDER CITY, Nev. (October 23, 2018) – The Northern Arizona women's golf team was able to move up two spots on the team leaderboard following the final round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showcase at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., with
Aleksandra Chekalina finishing as the top individual Lumberjack.

NAU moved from 14
th place to 12
th place overall as a team after a strong third round performance.
Â
Oregon State won the tournament shooting 26-under par as a team (838). Tulsa came in second place at 22-under par (842). Tulsa's Lorena Tseng captured the top spot on the player leaderboard (-13, 203) after the final round.

Chekalina golfed one-over par during the third round. She shot for a birdie on four holes throughout the day. Chekalina ended the tournament at two-over par for a total tally of 218. She earned a tie for 31
st place.

"Aleksandra has been golfing very well this year," said head women's golf coach
Brad Bedortha. "She has been consistent which is great to see. This kind of course allows golfers to have a lot of low scores and she was able to post some great numbers."

Lexi Keene shot 2-over par on the final day for a tally of 74. Her total tally 221 earned her a tie for 45
th after shooting 5-over par throughout the entire showcase.
Ashley Croft followed her up with a tie for 53
rd (+7, 223).

Elle Kocourkova (+8, 224) earned a tie for 56
th place at the conclusion of the third round. During the final round she shot for two-under par for a total tally of 70. She shot a birdie on six holes throughout the day.

"We have been waiting for Elle to break out and she had a really competitive final round," added Bedortha. "She had three birdies in a row at one point. The way she played today was incredible."

Sara Padilla rounded things out with a tie for 87
th place (+22, 238).

NAU will return to action on October 30
th for the first two rounds of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational hosted by Hawaii University in Kapolei, Hawaii.

"We will get better and use this as a learning experience," concluded Bedortha.
