2019 NAU FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (Jan. 3, 2019) – The Northern Arizona football team will open the upcoming season at home with a special Thursday night showdown vs. Missouri State on August 29, according to the 2019 Lumberjack Football schedule, which was released on Thursday.
The 2019 schedule is highlighted by six home games at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome, including four games vs. Big Sky opponents, beginning with the conference home opener on Saturday, Oct. 5 vs. Northern Colorado.
The non-conference slate will also feature a trip to Tucson, where the Lumberjacks will take on Pac 12 Conference foe and in-state rival University of Arizona on Saturday, Sept. 7.
"With a non-conference slate that includes opponents from the Pac 12 and Missouri Valley Conference, we will be tested right away," NAU head coach

The 12-game slate also includes a non-conference tilt at Illinois State on Sat., Sept. 21. The Lumberjacks met the Redbirds, a member of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, in 2017 and posted a convincing 37-16 over then No. 7 ranked Illinois State in Flagstaff.

The Lumberjacks will host Western New Mexico (Hall of Fame Weekend) on Saturday, Sept. 14 in their final non-conference home game. Additional Big Sky home contests will include visits to Flagstaff by Portland State (Oct. 25), Sacramento State (Nov. 9) and Idaho (Nov. 23).
NAU will kick off Big Sky play on the road at Montana State on Saturday, Sept. 28. The 'Jacks will be making their first trip to Bozeman since 2016, when it posted a 20-14 victory over the Bobcats.
Other Big Sky road clashes include a matchup at 2018 FCS Playoff qualifier and Co-Big Sky Champion Weber State on Oct. 19 and a meeting at Eastern Washington on Nov. 2, who will be competing in the 2018 FCS Championship game this coming Saturday vs. North Dakota State in Frisco, Texas.
The Lumberjacks' final road contest will see them travel to face Southern Utah in the annual Hinton-Burdick Grand Canyon Trophy Game on Nov. 16.
In addition, the Northern Colorado contest on Oct. 5 will be the annual Family Weekend game, while the match up with Portland State on Oct. 26 is slated as Homecoming.
The Lumberjacks regular-season finale on Nov. 23 against Idaho will mark Senior Day at the Skydome.
Game times and television designations will be released at a later date.
