NEW ORLEANS, La. (October 1, 2019) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association released its National Coaches' Poll for Week Three of the 2019 XC season on Tuesday morning. Northern Arizona University's men's squad was the No. 1 ranked team in NCAA Division I for the 25th consecutive week, while the Lumberjack women moved to the No. 27 spot.
The NAU men headlined the poll yet again, moving closer and closer to the modern era record for consecutive weeks on top. Behind the Lumberjacks sit No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Washington, No. 4 Colorado and No. 5 Iowa State for the fourth week in a row. The second-ranked Cougars were the only team in the top-5 that competed this past weekend.Â
Big Sky Conference rival Southern Utah dropped out of the top-30 this week falling from the No. 30 spot to receiving just 18 votes.
On the women's end of things NAU moved to the No. 27 spot despite having not competed this past weekend. Princeton is tied with the 'Jacks at No. 27. Boston College moved from No. 26 to No. 25, previously placing second at Beantown to Syracuse. Columbia also dropped from No. 24 to No. 26, pushing the 'Jacks back another spot. No other Big Sky schools received any votes.
