2025 NCAA Cross Country Championships Preview: A look at the championship fields, course, and race schedule as NAU competes in Missouri.

Flagstaff, AZ. (November. 20, 2025) - Northern Arizona Cross Country will compete at the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships on Saturday morning at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri. The women's 6K is scheduled for 8:20 a.m. MST on ESPNU, followed by the men's 10K at 9:10 a.m. MST.

The NAU men come into Nationals ranked No. 9 in the country. This will be their 10th straight NCAA Championship appearance since 2016, a run that includes six national titles and a top-five finish every single year.

This season, the Lumberjacks opened with a win at the George Kyte Classic, took eighth at Gans Creek, and grabbed fourth at the Nuttycombe Invitational. In the postseason, they rolled to their fifth straight Big Sky title and followed it up with a third-place finish at the Mountain Regional to earn an at-large berth. Last year, the men finished fifth at Nationals, led by All-American David Mullarkey in 18th.

The NAU women head into the meet ranked No. 14 and are back at the NCAA Championships for the seventh straight year. The group has been a consistent national contender, the runner-up in 2023 and fourth last season, good for a spot on the podium.

In 2025, the women opened with a win at George Kyte, finished second at Gans Creek, and placed 18th at Nuttycombe. They extended their Big Sky title streak to seven straight and earned an at-large bid after taking third at the Mountain Regional. Last year, the women finished fourth at Nationals behind All-American efforts from Ali Upshaw (22nd) and Elise Stearns (36th).

Both squads are led by first-year head coach Jarred Cornfield, the 2025 Big Sky Men's and Women's Coach of the Year.

The men's field includes automatic qualifiers Alabama, Arkansas, Butler, BYU, California Baptist, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown, Iona, Iowa State, New Mexico, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Princeton, Syracuse, Stanford, Tulane and Wake Forest.
