NAU Soccer Clinches Fourth Straight Postseason Appearance After Tie with Weber State, 1-1

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 25, 2019) – Northern Arizona University women's soccer (7-7-3) clinched its fourth straight postseason appearance at the Big Sky Conference Championship after tying with Weber State University (2-10-4) tonight in double overtime with a score of 1-1.
 
Junior transfer from Eckerd College, Taylor Fu, scored her first goal as a Lumberjack and first goal of the game at the 28th minute.
 
The Wildcats reciprocated the goal just twelve minutes later at the 40th minute, tying the game 1-1 in the first. Through the rest of the three periods, the Lumberjacks were unable to score again, ending with their third tie on their record.
 
NAU never gave up taking shots on the Wildcats, taking six in the first, five in the second, one in the first overtime and four in the second overtime. They recorded ten more shots than WSU at 16, with eight shots on-goal. WSU ended the night with six shots, three on-goal.
 
After clinching tonight, Northern Arizona will play as the fifth seed in the Big Sky Championship in Greeley, Colo. on Nov. 6-10. They will begin the postseason against the No. 4 seed, Northern Colorado at 3 p.m. Nov. 6.
 
Before the 'Jacks head to conference, they will be back at home this Sunday to play against their last regular season opponent, Idaho State University (2-13-3). The game will honor the four graduating seniors: Mei-Te Coco, Amanda Bennett, Tatum Heeres and Carly George. The celebration for the seniors will begin at 12:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the start of the game at 1 p.m.
