FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 27, 2019) – Northern Arizona University women's soccer found its last win over Idaho State after a golden goal by
Rylee Mitchell in the first overtime, 3-2.
"I just knew we had to score," Mitchell said. "We know we can pull out the hard wins like this."
The game started out slow with neither team truly finding their momentum right away until ISU's Natasha Camacho Bier scored the first goal in the 28th minute. NAU's offense responded by applying pressure on ISU's keeper, scoring two goals two minutes apart.

Abby Donathan reacted first to ISU's goal two minutes later by scoring with a header. After the 1-1 tie, Bennett continued with another shot at 30:10 just saved by the goalie. 20 seconds later,
Madison Montgomery followed through to pad NAU's lead in the first with another tally, taking the lead to 2-1 over Idaho State. After this goal, Montgomery continues to lead the Lumberjacks in goals, now with seven.
The 'Jacks wrapped up the first period with a total of 11 shots with seven being on-goal.
At the 61
st minute, ISU's Jazmin Lopez earned another goal for the Bengals, making it even playing ground for either team to earn the game-winning goal. The 'Jacks took possession of the ball, taking six shots after Idaho State's goal, keeping them to only one. Neither team was able to edge each other out in the regulation.
The Lumberjacks never gave up, and with just three minutes left in the first ten, Mitchell scored the golden goal for NAU to win the game 3-2. In the end, NAU took 19 shots with 12 being on-goal. In comparison, the Bengals only took three shots, each on-goal.
"Everyone is motivated; we know tournament time is coming up," head coach
Kylie Louw said. "We need to hit the reset button and start fresh this week. We're going to train much harder."
For the fourth season straight, Northern Arizona will make an appearance in the postseason Big Sky Conference Championship, happening from Nov. 6-10 In Greeley, Colo. Earning a No. 5 seeding, the 'Jacks will play in the second match to No. 4, Northern Colorado, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m MT.
