NEW ORLEANS, La. (October 7, 2019) -
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its Regional Rankings for Week Four of the 2019 cross country season on Monday morning. The Northern Arizona men's XC team was ranked No. 1 in the Mountain Region for the 26th consecutive week. NAU's women's squad moved from the No. 4 spot to No. 6.

There was a slight change to the order of the top five teams in the men's Mountain Region between Week Three and Week Four. Northern Arizona, BYU and Colorado remain No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3, but Utah State shot from No. 8 last week to No. 4 this week thanks to its effort at the Paul Short Run. The Aggies romped to victory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, scoring nearly 100 points fewer than the runner-up. Wyoming remained at No. 5 to round out the top-five.

The Joe Piane Invitational created some major changes in the women's Mountain Region from Week Three to Week Four. While No. 1 BYU remained at the top, Utah moved up 12 spots to No. 2. The Utes had an incredible showing at Joe Piane to take home the team title, pulling off the upset to defeat Colorado and New Mexico, the top two teams in the national standings. No. 3 Colorado placed second at Joe Piane, while No. 4 New Mexico placed seventh and moved up five spots. No. 5 Air Force fell two spots to round out the top teams.

As a result of the shake up in the women's region, NAU now sits in the No. 6 spot despite having not competed this past week.

Both men's and women's cross country will return to the course on Oct. 18 for the Nuttcombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
