Jacobsen Picks Up Season’s Final Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week Award

FARMINGTON, Utah (November 25, 2019) – Following the final weekend of the regular season, freshman Taylor Jacobsen was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Jacobsen recorded 29 digs at an average of 4.83 digs per set, helping the Northern Arizona volleyball team to a pair of sweeps over Eastern Washington and Idaho.

Jacobsen also added two solo blocks – increasing her season total to 15 – in earning her first career Player of the Week award. Her defensive efforts were part of an overall team performance that limited Eastern Washington and Idaho to a combined .072 hitting percentage. Offensively, Jacobsen averaged 3.00 kills per set and hit .273 in the pair of victories.

Jacobsen, a Chandler native, posted her 14th double-double of the season last Thursday against Eastern Washington, registering 13 kills and 16 digs while attacking at a .346 clip. Her 14 double-doubles lead the Big Sky Conference. She followed up with 13 digs to go along with five kills, three aces and two blocks in NAU's regular season finale versus Idaho on Saturday.

Jacobsen has recorded double-digit digs in five consecutive matches and in 21 matches total this season – tied for second-most on the team. Announced as an All-Big Sky Second Team honoree earlier on Monday, Jacobsen is averaging 3.43 digs per set on the season to go along with 2.61 kills per set.
