USTFCCCA Men's National Coaches' Poll
USTFCCCA Women's National Coaches' Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. (November 5, 2019) - For the 28th consecutive week the Northern Arizona University men's cross country team has been ranked No. 1 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's National Coaches' Poll, tying a modern-era NCAA poll record set by North Central (Ill.) in the NCAA Division III Men's National Coaches' Poll last week. NAU currently holds the longest streak atop the NCAA Division I men's poll.
So long as the NAU remain No. 1 in any polls moving forward they will be making history. North Central (Ill.) is currently in the middle of their streak as well, with Division III rankings being released before Division I; meaning that so long as both teams remain atop the poll NAU will be tying North Central (Ill.) for the longest streak atop any USTFCCCA National Poll.
In the Men's National Coaches' Poll the top-five programs remained the same as No. 1 Northern Arizona, No. 2 BYU, No. 3 Colorado, No. 4 Stanford and No. 5 Iowa State remained entrenched among the nation's elite. Fellow Big Sky Conference schools Southern Utah and Weber State also received votes but did not make it into the top-30.
The Lumberjack women were moved to the No. 16 spot in the Women's National Coaches' Poll. The poll saw the NAU women tie with Notre Dame for the No. 16 spot.
In the most recent slate of Regional Rankings, released by the USTFCCCA on Monday morning, the 'Jacks men's squad was the No. 1 ranked team, while the women moved to No. 5 in the Mountain Region.
The NAU XC program is fresh off of a Big Sky Conference title sweep that saw both teams place four runners in the top-10, earning All-Conference honors in the process. True freshman
Drew Bosley was also the men's 8K individual champion and was joined by senior
Geordie Beamish and redshirt freshman
Brodey Hasty on the podium as the 'Jacks took the top-three spots.
The next National Coaches' Poll will be released on Monday, November 18 following the conclusion of Regional Championships Weekend. NAU will travel to Salt Lake City, Utah., to take on No. 2 BYU and No. 3 Colorado on the men's side, along with a slew of other talented teams in a dominant Mountain Region.
