FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 1, 2019) – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team opens a two-game road trip this Saturday as it takes on Idaho in an 8 p.m. (MST) tip from Moscow. The Lumberjacks will conclude the road swing on Monday night in a 7 p.m. (MST) start at Eastern Washington.
Each of the Lumberjacks' games this weekend will be streamed to a national audience on Pluto TV (Channel 242 at Idaho) (Channel 234 at Eastern Washington) and aired on the Lumberjack Radio Network, beginning with the pregame show 30 minutes before tip.
NAU enters Saturday's game at Idaho trailing the Vandals 42-19 in the all-time series. The Lumberjacks dropped a pair of matchups with the Vandals last season, losing an 84-80 decision in Flagstaff on Jan. 20 and a 66-52 setback at Moscow on March 1.
The 'Jacks are 5-26 all-time vs. Idaho in road games and have lost their last 13 meetings in Moscow.
The Vandals currently own an overall record of 4-15 and are 1-7 in Big Sky play. Idaho has lost each of its last five games overall entering Saturday's matchup with NAU.
Eastern Washington enters the week 6-13 overall (4-4 Big Sky) and will host the Lumberjacks after facing Southern Utah on Saturday in Cheney.
NAU leads all-time series with the Eagles 37-33 and own a 12-21 mark against Eastern Washington in games played in Cheney entering Monday's clash. The 'Jacks have lost six of their last seven meetings with the Eagles overall and seven straight on the road. The Lumberjacks last victory in Cheney came during the 2009-10 campaign.
The Lumberjacks currently have a total of three players averaging double-figure points, led by sophomore
Bernie Andre's team-best 12.9 points per game. Sophomore
Carlos Hines has notched 12.8 ppg, while junior
Ted McCree has tallied an 11.2 ppg average.
In addition, freshman
Luke Avdalovic has been hot for the 'Jacks in recent games posting a 10.9 scoring average over the last 12 contests and knocking down a total of 31 three-pointers over that span. He currently leads the Big Sky and ranks fifth nationally with a .520 (39-of-75) shooting percentage from beyond the arc.
NAU (6-13, 4-5 Big Sky) has already eclipsed its conference and overall win total from last season. The conference win total marks the earliest point in a season that the 'Jacks have secured three Big Sky victories since 2014-15.
The Lumberjacks will return home next week to host Idaho State (Feb. 7) and Weber State (Feb. 9).
