FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 13, 2019) – Head volleyball coach
Ken Murphy and the Northern Arizona volleyball team announced their 2019 Summer Camp dates on Wednesday. The Lumberjacks will host three summer camps including an All Skills Camp, Team Camp and Advanced Camp that will provide skills instruction for players of all abilities.
Murphy, along with his staff and student-athletes from the 2018 Big Sky Conference Champions, will be in attendance during all three camps. All three of NAU's Summer Camps will be held in the Walkup Skydome on sport courts laid down for the camps, along with the Rolle Activity Center as space is needed.
The All Skills Camp will kick things off from July 13-15 and is open to girls entering grades 5-12 in the fall of 2019. The camp is designed to cover skill breakdown in passing, serving and hitting through drills and game play over six two-hour sessions. There will also be position group breakdowns available in two of the six sessions for more specific training.
The Team Camp will follow from July 16-18 and is designed for high school teams who are interested in gaining valuable game experience combined with individual skill training sessions. Coach's chalk talks and socials as well as drill demonstrations will also be included. Players must be invited by their high school volleyball coach to participate in the Team Camp.
Finally, the Advanced Camp will close it out from July 19-21 and is geared towards girls entering grades 9-12 in the fall of 2019. The camp, consisting of seven two-hour sessions spread over the three days, will include a mix of position specific training as well as games and drills to implement skills learned and provide insight into how college student-athletes train. The Advanced Camp is designed for players who are looking to explore playing volleyball at the next level.
