RSVP for Champions Week Reception
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (April 4, 2019) – Northern Arizona University Athletics is excited to announce the celebration of the first annual "NAU Champions Week", which will get underway on April 8.
The new tradition will be held annually in the spring to recognize each of NAU's championship teams from the preceding fall and spring semesters.
The celebratory week will be highlighted with social media recognition for all of the recent Lumberjack championship-winning programs and culminate with the "Champions Reception" on Thursday, April 11 at the DuBois Center beginning at 3 p.m. MST. Championship rings will be distributed to the student-athletes.
The event is free and open to the public.
Parking for the April 11 reception can be secured by following the directions below:
Parking Instructions for Champions Reception on Thursday, April 11
- Go to www.nau.edu/guest and follow instructions to create an account.
- Click "Permits" drop down (top of page) and select "Get Permits" – use the "basketball" permit to park at the Skydome in lot P66.
- Pick the registered event you desire to attend - 4/11 - Champions Week Reception at Du Bois Ballroom at 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. (select basketball permit)
NAU Athletics racked up a total of seven Big Sky titles (regular season and postseason combined), while also adding a WAC championship in swimming and diving – as well as a third-straight NCAA National Title in men's cross country.
NAU cheerleading also was recognized for bringing home some hardware to Flagstaff as they won the University World Cup Cheerleading Championship for the Premiere All-Girl Division last January in Orlando, Fla.
Big Sky champions included women's tennis (regular season), men's and women's outdoor track (postseason), men's cross country (postseason), women's volleyball (regular season and postseason) and men's indoor track (postseason).
The men's cross country team captured its third straight NCAA National Championship and student-athletes Andy Trouard (3,000 meters/indoor) and Geordie Beamish (mile/indoor) will be spotlighted as individual NCAA National Champions.
The three-time NCAA National Champion cross country team will be honored during a special dinner event on Sunday, April 14 at Whisk & Whisky.
