FARMINGTON, Utah (February 5, 2026) – In an announcement by the Big Sky Conference office on Thursday, 77 Northern Arizona student-athletes were named to the 2025 Big Sky Fall All-Academic Team.
The 77 honorees from the Lumberjack football, soccer, volleyball and men's and women's cross country programs continued an upward trajectory in recent years. Since the 2022 fall season, the Fall All-Academic honorees have steadily grown from 52 to this year's 77. Last season, NAU's fall programs produced 67 all-academic honors.
To be eligible for the Fall All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions, achieve a 3.2 cumulative GPA at the conclusion of the most recently completed term and completed at least one academic term at their current Big Sky institution. Cross country student-athletes must have participated in either half of the team's competitions or competed at the conference championship.
In all, the conference had 767 student-athletes receive all-academic recognition.
The NAU football team had 32 honorees, followed by 18 on the Lumberjack soccer team. The Big Sky regular season champion volleyball team had nine honorees, as did the men's and women's cross country programs, who also captured their respective conference titles in the fall.
Nineteen of NAU's 77 honorees currently hold a 4.00 cumulative GPA in their respective undergraduate or graduate degree programs. A staggering 57-of-77 (74%) have a 3.50 GPA or better.
The 77 Big Sky Fall All-Academic honorees come on the heels of a record fall 2025 semester by the entire NAU Athletics Department. Lumberjack student-athletes across all 15 Division I programs combined to record a 3.393 GPA in the fall, the highest-ever fall semester department GPA. More than 25% of NAU's total student-athletes earned a 4.00 term GPA and 53% of student-athletes earned Dean's List recognition.
