FARMINGTON, Utah (June 1, 2026) – For the 11th time in school history, and fifth time in the last six years, Northern Arizona University Athletics claimed the Big Sky Women's All-Sports Trophy.
The Women's All-Sports Trophy standings are determined by a formula that takes into account each school's regular season finish or conference tournament/championship result for all conference-sponsored sports the institution offers. Basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball and tennis awards points based on regular season finishes, while points for track & field, cross country and golf are award based on conference tournament/championship results. Indoor and outdoor track & field points are averaged to create one score for track & field.
"I'd like to congratulate the student-athletes, coaches and staff of our women's programs for capturing the Big Sky Women's All-Sports Trophy for the second consecutive year," said Deputy Athletic Director of Internal Operations/SWA
Beth Vechinski. "Their dedication to championship excellence is apparent and this is an outstanding honor for our entire Athletic Department. All in all, the 2025-26 season was another extremely successful one for our department and we're proud of all of our student-athletes to representing NAU Athletics with the highest-standard."
Extending back to the 2016-17 season, the NAU women have earned the All-Sports Trophy seven of the last nine times it has been handed out. The All-Sports Trophy was not awarded in 2019-20 due to COVID-19. The Lumberjacks' 11 Women's All-Sport Trophy wins remain the most in the Big Sky Conference.
Repeating as the Women's All-Sports Trophy champion, the NAU women finished with a score of 7.86, which bested Montana State's 7.25.
NAU posted a pair of Big Sky championships in the fall with women's cross country and volleyball claiming their respective titles. It was the seventh consecutive Big Sky Cross Country Championship for the women, while the volleyball team earned their first regular season conference title since 2018.
The Lumberjacks also brought home the women's indoor track & field and golf championships. The indoor track & field title was the program's fifth straight and the golf title was its first since 2022.
Additionally, NAU scored high in women's outdoor track & field and women's tennis, placing second in both sports. For good measure, although not counted towards the Big Sky All-Sports Trophy, the NAU swimming & diving team was once again conference champions, raising its 13th consecutive trophy in its first season in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.
While the NAU men placed third in the Men's All-Sports Trophy standings behind Montana State and Montana, the Lumberjack men also won five Big Sky Championships this season in cross country, indoor and outdoor track & field and tennis (regular season and tournament), bringing the department's total to 10 for the 2025-26 season.
