Beamish Named as 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic Second Team All-American

Having already been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team, Beamish finds himself securing another spot this time on the national Academic All-American list.

AUSTIN, Texas (June 27, 2019) - Northern Arizona men's long distance runner Geordie Beamish finds himself in the national spotlight yet again, this time for his performance in the classroom. Beamish has earned a spot on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic Second Team All-American list for Track & Field/Cross Country. The junior would end the year with a 3.73 GPA in Civil Engineering.

The Google Cloud Academic All-American award honors those student-athletes that excel academically while regularly competing for their institution.  All selections are chosen by CoSIDA membership and receive All-District honors. First team all-district selections are automatically considered for Academic All-American status and are chosen by members of the Academic All-American committee and CoSIDA Board of Directors.

Beamish was the 2019 NCAA Division I National Champion in the mile during the indoor season, an event he also won at the 2019 Big Sky Indoor Championships to earn all-conference honors.  Beamish also competed at the outdoor championships this year where he finished 10th in the 5,000 meters.  The New Zealand native received all-conference honors during the outdoor season after winning the 1500 meters at the conference championships.

Beamish was also a member of the Lumberjack's National Championship cross country team during the 2018 campaign. He would also receive Big Sky All-Academic honors this year. The New Zealand native looks to return to Flagstaff next season to help lead the charge towards a fourth consecutive NCAA Division I cross country national championship.
