NAU Golfers Kocourkova and Padilla Named to 18Birdies WGCA All-American Scholar Team

Two NAU student-athletes earn prestigious academic honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (July 9, 2019) – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars were announced this past week with two Lumberjack golfers Elle Kocourkova and Sara Padilla earning spots on the prestigious list. A total of 1,097 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this honor.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.

This past year the Lumberjacks had an overall team GPA of 3.54, the highest in ten years.

"Elle and Sara are pillars of what it means to be student-athletes," said head women's golf coach Brad Bedortha. "They work very hard at what they do both on and off the course."

Twenty-four Big Sky women's golfers from eight league institutions were named to the team.
