STOCKTON, Calif. (September 8) – Northern Arizona University women's soccer team (2-2-1) recorded their second loss of the season at the University of Pacific (1-5) after losing an early leading goal, with a final score of 2-1.
"0-2 on the road is disappointing for us. We need to get back to the drawing board and work on our principles and continue to grow into our identity," head coach
Kylie Louw said. "Our team knows that this is a great opportunity for players and coaching staff to reflect and respond. I'm looking forward to our response heading into tough games ahead."
The Tigers started out early, attempting their first goal on NAU's goal at the 10-minute mark.
Taryn Benham, junior goalkeeper, was able to make her first save of the game, helping to keep Pacific scoreless in the first half.
During the first half, Northern Arizona dominated possession of the ball.
Madison Montgomery went straight up to the goal, facing Pacific's Brenna Crump one-on-one, kicked the ball between their legs, and scored for the Lumberjacks at the 16th minute of the game.
At the half, NAU had taken five shots, two being on-goal. At the 11th minute,
Tatum Heeres was second to record a shot-on-goal.
The 'Jacks shutout the Tigers during the first half but lost their lead early in the second.
Pacific scored both of their goals in the second half. At the 53rd minute, Pacific's Jenae Packard scored, tying the game up. Their winning goal was at the 70th minute by Sigrid Aas.

Lexy Aguilar took four out of the 10 corner kicks Northern Arizona recorded. With each one, NAU was close to scoring, but ended up being too wide or short of the goal.
Montgomery lead Northern Arizona in shots at five, two being on goal. In the end, Benham made five saves. Five Lumberjacks played for the entire 90-minute game: Montgomery,

The Lumberjacks continue their road game streak traveling to the University of New Mexico Sunday, Sept. 15 with the game starting at 12 p.m. MST. The following weekend, they will play a pair of games as they head to UNLV Friday, Sept. 20 and to New Mexico State University Sunday, Sept. 22.
