Swimming and Diving Opens up 2020-21 Season

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 2, 2020) – Northern Arizona's swimming and diving will look to make their season debut in Phoenix, Ariz., against Western Athletic Conference opponent, Grand Canyon University on Nov. 14. The dual meet will be hosted at Brophy College Preparatory. There will be no fans allowed.

Despite being conference opponents, the Lumberjacks and the 'Lopes have not had a dual meet against one another since Feb. 8, 2014, when the 'Jacks won 168-125. Tied 92-92 through 10 events, NAU won three consecutive events, highlighted by a sweep of the top-three spots in the 200 breaststroke, to pull away late.

Grand Canyon proves to be a strong WAC competitor. NAU took home their seventh straight gold with 677.5 points while GCU finished third with 561. In the individual and relay events, there were times where the teams were neck-and-neck, with both earning top-three finishes.

Stay tuned for more information regarding the meet next week.
