Get to Know NAU Volleyball’s 2020 Signing Class: Millie O’Ketter

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (June 3, 2020) – NAU Athletics checks in with Millie O'Ketter, out of Durango High School, in this week's Q&A with the Northern Arizona volleyball 2020 signing class. The Durango, Colo. native enters the program as a defensive specialist.

Q: What is the one thing that excites you most about joining the NAU Volleyball program?

A: I'm most excited to be coached both physically and mentally as a player and to see how far I can go through this program.

Q: How would you describe yourself as a volleyball player?

A: I'm very energetic; I'm like a firecracker. I like to have all the energy on the court that I can. I'm also very disciplined.

Q: You competed in the Four Corners Volleyball Club Global Challenge in Croatia in 2019. What was that experience like to play in Europe?

A: It was an incredible experience. Getting to see how different players around the world navigate the game was really eye-opening. There's not a right way or wrong way to play and it was fun to see how the different cultures blended within the game.

Q: How great is it to have a club teammate (Jordan Elder) coming with you to both play at NAU this fall?

A: This season will be our fifth or sixth year playing together. I am so excited to play with my best friend. It'll provide a feeling of home and I think we're both excited to work together and push each other.

Q: You're currently deciding between a major in psychology or criminology & criminal justice. What is it about those two paths that interest you?

A: I'm planning on taking my freshman year as an exploratory year. I'm going to take a bunch of different classes to narrow it down. I'm interested in helping people. In addition I'm also interested in environmental science.

Q: How have you been filling your time during the COVID-19 pandemic?

A: At first I thought it would be hard, but I realized that the past couple months have been the only time that I wasn't playing volleyball or going to school. It was nice to hit the reset button and spend time with my family before leaving and doing little things around the house.

Q: What is one fun fact about yourself?

A: I have an unhealthy obsession with any docuseries on Netflix. I love documentary series.
