Kocourkova recorded her two-best career finishes this past season, tying for ninth and eighth respectively at the Coeur D'Alene Collegiate and New Mexico State Aggie Invitational in the fall. Over her first two seasons as a Lumberjack, Kocourkova has competed in 18 tournaments and posted a career stroke average of 75.67.
Q: Where are you right now and what does a normal day look like for you?
A: I am currently at home in the Czech Republic. I usually wake up around 9 a.m. I have some errands like grocery shopping, laundry and some other stuff. After lunch I go to coach golf for a couple hours and stay a bit longer to practice too. I spend evenings at home with my family or hanging out with my friends.
Q: What are you most looking forward to when you get back to competing on the golf course?
A: I am very excited to see my teammates again. I am really sad that the season was so short because we planned some very good tournaments.
Q: What is motivating or encouraging you to push through these difficult times?
A: Honestly, the situation in Czech is pretty good and it wasn't really hard to get through the worse. Right now, everything opened up again and we have basically no limitations. After I got back from the U.S., I had to be in quarantine for two weeks but it wasn't too bad.
Q: How did you first get into your sport?
A: I started with my dad when I was six years old. I had only one club and I played on our garden.
Q: If you could be a dual-sport athlete at NAU, what sport would you compete in and why?
A: I think I would pick swimming because I used to swim.
Q: If you could pick any other NAU student-athlete to try out your sport, who would it be and why?
A: I would pick someone from the football team because their sport is absolutely different. They need to be very strong, but golf is more about tempo and coordination. I think it would be interesting for them to try it out.
Q: What is your best golf memory ever?
A: My best golf memory is definitely when my team won U16. The atmosphere was unbelievable and it's one of my favorite memories ever.
Q: What is your major and what are your career aspirations?
A: My major is hotel and restaurant management and I would love to have my own event planning business.
