Diving Lumberjacks Close 2021 NCAA Zone E Championships in the 3-Meter Prelims

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (March 9, 2021) – Two Lumberjacks, Victoria Knapp and Maegan Jensen, concluded their NCAA appearances today in the 3-meter event on the second day of NCAA Zone E Diving Championships.

"It's good for freshmen to be here and to compete," head diving coach Nikki Huffman said. "Maegan definitely got better with each day she competed. With her not being able to train lately, she did a great job. Victoria had some great tops, she just wasn't lined up as well as she has been."

Tomorrow, the women's divers will compete in the platform dives with prelims beginning at 11:30 a.m. MST while the men finish the three day series on the 1-meter at the same time.

The pair of freshmen divers were challenged by the NCAA tough competition this afternoon. Diving against strong PAC-12 and Mountain West student-athletes, the two were unable to advance past the preliminary round of the 3-meter.

Knapp and Jensen dove around the same caliber today on the springboard. Going 21st and 22nd respectively, the 'Jacks tallied scores of 237.60 and 235.55. Knapp was just three spots away, about 18 points, from securing a second appearance in a finals seed.

"They're not that far off from making finals, which is great," Huffman said. "With both of them being freshmen, the future is bright in the years to come."

Tomorrow's prelims on the towers will begin at 11:30 a.m. MST with finals taking place shortly after. The event will be live streamed on NAU Swimming and Diving's Facebook page with live results at divemeets.com.
