STILLWATER, Okla. (September 18, 2021) - Northern Arizona remains the champions of the OSU Cross Country, placing first at the Cowboy Jamboree with a final team score of 39 points as three men finish in the top-five.
In a highly competitive field, sophomore
Abdihamid Nur (23:40.31), freshman
Nico Young (23:41.27), and sophomore
Drew Bosley (23:44.13) led the Lumberjacks to victory in Stillwater on Saturday; the All-American trio went 3-4-5 to gain the winning edge.Â
No. 6 Oklahoma State put three orange jerseys in the top-10, with Isai Rodriguez setting a new course record (23:05.77) to champion the event, giving OSU second place overall with a score of 62 points.Â
Meanwhile, No. 12 Colorado saw Eduardo Herrera (23:36.80) place second individually, landing them third with a team tally of 80 points, Texas snuck into fourth (95 points), and No. 8 Tulsa ended the race in fifth with 122 points.
It was an aggressive matchup, as Texas asserted themselves early and maintained control through the first half of the race, however, once Northern Arizona took the reins at the 5K mark, there was no turning back.
Now, the Northern Arizona men will rest for nearly a month, while the women are scheduled to race again on Oct. 1 at the Paul Short Run.
