FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 16, 2022) – The Northern Arizona University Athletic Department is proud to celebrate seven student-athletes who will earn their degrees as a part of the Fall class of 2022 today (Dec. 16). The seven athletes across three sports are among 2,400 students who will participate in commencement today at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome.
The Lumberjacks recognize football student-athletes
Jalen Hooper,
Cosmas Kwete,
Jacob Mpungi,
Coleman Owen and
Jorim Powell. Men's track and field athlete
Ryan Raff and women's basketball player
Emily Rodabaugh round out the graduating class.
Owen was one of 30 NAU students to receive the prestigious Golden Axe Award at the Gold Axe and Distinguished Senior Awards Ceremony back in November, becoming NAU Athletics' 60
th Gold Axe recipient since 2004 and the first member of the football team to earn the honor since November 2016. Kwete earned All-Big Sky second team honors this season, and Raff was the 2021 Big Sky Outdoor 10k Champion.
Rodabaugh is a three-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and a three-time member of the Big Sky All-Academic team. Powell has been named to the Big Sky All-Academic team twice and is a three-time recipient of the Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete award.
