Wilson Finishes Fourth in Heptathlon

Wilson Posts Her Best Big Sky Championship Combined Events Finish To Date

POCATELLO, Idaho (May 12, 2022) – Madeline Wilson wraps up the heptathlon with a personal record score of 4,956 points and a personal best Big Sky Championship finish of fourth place to earn five points for the Northern Arizona women. 

Resuming the combined competition in second place, Wilson started the day with a 5.44 meter long jump to add 683 points to her running total of 3,811 points, finishing behind Hayden McAuliff of Eastern Washington (5.44m), Margaret Nelson of Eastern Washington (5.57m), Jentry Skidmore of Southern Utah (5.73m), and Brianna Hagler of Idaho State (5.85m) in the event; however, Wilson was able to maintain her second place position in the overall standings. 

Later, Wilson threw the javelin 26.29 meters for an additional 407 points, falling to fourth overall with a score of 4,218 points, behind Nelson (4444), Skidmore (4409), and Hagler (4766) after finishing behind Southern Utah's Seadra Hamilton (27.34m), McAuliff (29.41m), Sacramento State's Abby Sheets (31.66m), Sacramento State's Eliana Coburn (34.82m), Skidmore (40.07m), Hagler (42.70m), and Nelson (46.99m) in the event. 

After a long two days of competition, Wilson dug deep to deliver a personal best 800-meter performance of 2:26.45 to grab a final 738 points and finish the women's heptathlon in fourth place with a sum of 4,956 points to score five points for the Lumberjack women. 

Team competition begins tomorrow at 9 A.M. with the women's hammer throw.
