FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (July 22, 2026) – Five current Northern Arizona track and field athletes and four Lumberjack alumni are set to compete at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships at Ichan Stadium in New York.
Current Lumberjacks competing include Rheinhardt Harrison in the men's 1,500 meters, Josiah Johnson in the men's 400-meter hurdles, Cael Grotenhuis in the men's 10,000 meters, Ali Upshaw in the women's 10,000 meters and Ava Mitchell in the women's 5,000 meters.
Harrison opens competition Thursday in the first round of the men's 1,500 meters at 2:21 p.m. MST. Grotenhuis and Upshaw will race later that evening in the men's and women's 10,000-meter finals, scheduled for 5:58 p.m. MST and 5:16 p.m. MST, respectively.
Johnson is set to compete Saturday in the opening round of the men's 400-meter hurdles at 1:31 p.m. MST after earning Second Team All-America honors during the collegiate season. The sophomore enters the meet with the NAU school record of 49.07.
Mitchell will compete Sunday in the women's 5,000-meter final at 1:41 p.m. MST.
Four NAU alumni are also entered in this year's championships.
Drew Bosley is entered in both the men's 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters. Annika Reiss will double in the women's 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, while Alex Carlson is entered in the women's 1,500 meters and Elise Stearns will race the women's 5,000 meters.
Carlson begins competition Thursday in the first round of the women's 1,500 meters at 2:52 p.m. MST. Bosley joins Grotenhuis in Thursday's men's 10,000-meter final at 5:58 p.m. MST.
Saturday's schedule features Johnson in the men's 400-meter hurdles first round at 1:31 p.m. MST.
Sunday concludes the championships with Reiss, Stearns and Mitchell competing in the women's 5,000-meter final at 1:41 p.m. MST, followed by Bosley in the men's 5,000-meter final at 2:19 p.m. MST.
