EUGENE, Ore. (June 10, 2026) – Northern Arizona advanced two athletes to NCAA championship finals Wednesday evening at Hayward Field as Colin Sahlman and Josiah Johnson both secured spots in Friday's title races.
Sahlman earned an automatic qualifying berth in the men's 800-meter final, placing second in the second semifinal heat in 1:45.56. The top two finishers in each heat automatically advanced to Friday's final.
Johnson followed later in the evening, running 49.40 in the men's 400-meter hurdles semifinal to qualify for Friday's championship race.
Earlier in the day, Tor Hotung-Davidsen competed in the men's 1500-meter semifinal. Hotung-Davidsen finished ninth in the opening heat and placed 19th overall in 3:44.94.
The Lumberjacks will now have two athletes competing for NCAA titles on Friday, with Sahlman set to race in the men's 800-meter final and Johnson returning for the men's 400-meter hurdles final.
Northern Arizona's NCAA Championships continue Thursday with Hayley Burns competing in the women's 1500-meter semifinal. Burns enters the meet as one of the nation's top middle-distance runners after a record-breaking outdoor campaign and will race for a spot in Saturday's national final. The women's 1500-meter semifinal is scheduled for 5:21 p.m. MST at Hayward Field.
