NAU Athletics Launches “Raise the Flag” Campaign to Engage with Fans and Flagstaff Community

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (June 30, 2022) – With eyes on the collective promotion of Lumberjack Athletics as well as the entire Flagstaff community, NAU Athletics officially launched its "Raise the Flag" campaign, a refreshed and multi-faceted fan engagement call to action to all Lumberjack supporters near and far.

The "Raise the Flag" call to action is deeply rooted in history with direct ties to the legendary stories of how the university's home received its name. In 1876, an American flag was raised onto an iconic pine tree to celebrate the nation's centennial. The "flag staff" became a landmark for travelers and forever cemented the community as Flagstaff.

"Raise the Flag" aspires to be a visual representation of support for Lumberjack Athletics throughout the Northern Arizona University campus, Flagstaff community and around the world as it encourages NAU fans to raise their flag to show their allegiance to the Blue & Gold.

However, "Raise the Flag" is far from stagnant, as it will drive forward the motivation for on-going action as our collective flag should always continue to be raised higher and higher as NAU, NAU Athletics and the city of Flagstaff reach new heights together.

From collective department achievements to individual sport program accomplishments including National Championships, Conference Championships, academic achievements and everything in between, NAU Athletics will "Raise the Flag" to highlight these successes. It will incorporate a variety of fan engagement opportunities, including overall departmental messaging and marketing and promotional materials.

Starting in the fall, fans at select NAU Athletics games will see brand new giveaway items as well as enhanced in-game experiences in support of the "Raise the Flag" campaign.

In the interim, and throughout the campaign, fans can show their support on social media using #RaiseTheFlag.
