Hanson Earns All-American Honors with 11th Place Finish

EUGENE, Ore. (June 9, 2022) — Jessa Hanson (33:35.74) finishes her season with an 11th place 10,000-meter performance to earn second-team All-American honors.

Tonight's women's 10K appeared much like last night's men's 10K, as Haley Herberg (Washington) took an early, sizable, lead for more than half the race.

Meanwhile, Hanson and the rest of the pack remained patient, maintaining composure and pace; Hanson held her own and hung onto fourth place before the pack steadily strung out and began to pursue Herberg.

As the pack ultimately absorbed Herberg, Mercy Chelangat (Alabama) broke from the pack and took control to bring home the gold with a time of 32:37.08.
