FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 10, 2023) – NAU Men's Basketball (0-1) will continue its seven-game road stretch with game two at Grand Canyon (1-0) this Sunday as the Jacks look to pick up their first victory of the 2023-24 campaign against the Lopes. The game is set to tip off at 3:30 p.m. MST in GCU Arena.

The series history is in favor of the Jacks as NAU leads the all-time series record at 32-16, with NAU on a six-game win streak. Some time has passed since the two teams last matched up, the Jacks earned their first CIT victory in 2015 knocking out GCU 75-70. NAU went on to make the first CIT Championship appearance in program history after knocking out Sacramento State (78-73), Kent State (74-73), and NJIT (68-61). The Lumberjacks five wins to GCU prior to that came in Flagstaff dating back from 1983-2013.

For Lumberjack Liam Lloyd, Sunday's matchup will be a homecoming of sorts as Lloyd began his collegiate career with the Lopes, playing two seasons under head coach Bryce Drew. Lloyd appeared in 30 games across two seasons at GCU highlighted by the Lopes NCAA tournament appearance in 2021 and Lloyd's first collegiate career double-double against Bethesda with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Lloyd led the Jacks offensively against UConn on Monday, picking up 15 points in his 28th start for the Jacks. The junior guard went a career high 6-13 from the field while recording six rebounds and five assists against the No. 6 Huskies. In addition to Lloyd's big night, Carson Basham took the floor for the first official time as a Lumberjack as he recorded six points, six rebounds, and three blocks in his start.

The Lopes earned their first victory of the season on Nov. 6 against Southeast Missouri at home in an 88-67 game. GCU opened up its season with high quality shooting at the Lopes went 50.0 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from three-point range, and 70.0 percent from the line. Tyon Grant-Foster picked up a 30-piece night in just 24 minutes on the floor.
