NAU Track & Field Ready for Final Home Meet of Season

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (February 16, 2023) – The Northern Arizona University track & field teams will be hosting their final regular season meet of the indoor season.

The NAU Tune Up will take place Friday, February 17 at the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome, with field events beginning at 2:00 p.m. MT and races beginning at 3:45 p.m. MT.

Elise Stearns will run her first race since December, as she competes in the 3000-meter. Stearns previously competed in the 5000-meter at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, where she set a school and conference record with a time of 15:33.74.

Also competing for the women's distance squad will be Maggi Congdon and Annika Reiss who each had strong performances in Seattle last weekend. Congdon ran times that put her at second on the all-time lists in both the 800-meter and the mile. Reiss' 3K time of 9:11.93 put her at number 3 all-time in school history.

On the men's distance side, Drew Bosley will make his Skydome season debut, competing in the mile. Bosley has competed twice this season, setting school and conference records in both the 3K and the 5K. His 3K time of 7:36.42 is also a collegiate record. Also competing in the mile will be Theo Quax who finished ninth at the Husky Classic with a time of 4:00.62.

Alyssa Colbert will headline the women's sprints as she competes in the 60-meter. Colbert owns the school and conference record, running a time of 7.24 at the Ron Mann Classic. Also competing in the sprints will be Kenya Coburn, who ran a time of 7.67 in the 60-meter last weekend at the Don Kirby Invitational.

The Givens brothers will be competing in the 60-meter hurdles once again after leading the Lumberjacks in the event. Trenton has a PR of 7.88 in the event, while Tyson has a PR of 7.99.

The throws squad will be out in full force for the last regular season meet. Desmond Lott had a strong weekend at the Don Kirby Invitational, hitting a new PR of 20.28 meters in the weight throw to tie for first place in the Big Sky. He is tied with teammate John Murphy who will also be competing in the weight throw this Friday. Alaina Diggs will be competing in both the shot put and weight throw for the first time this season.

The jumps squad will be small but mighty this weekend, with a lot of athletes resting before the conference championships. Christian Mutengela and Malachi Marshall will compete for the men, while Lily Margolis, Olivia Conklin, and Gabbie Hasskamp will compete for the women.
