FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 8, 2024) – Northern Arizona Basketball took a 2-0 start to the 2024-25 campaign on Friday night, following a 115-67 final with the Nelson Warriors.
"I thought tonight we played well, coming out of the half we figured it out and we're starting 2-0 for the first time since 2012 and that says a lot about the young men in that locker room," head coach
Shane Burcar said.
Posting their second straight 100-point victory, the Lumberjacks were once again led by
Trent McLaughlin who finished the night just one point off his career high with 30 points, going nine-for-fourteen from the field in a team-high 30 minutes on the floor.
The Jacks took a 52-31 lead into halftime, shooting 54.1 percent from the field while holding the Warriors to 3-of-12 from three-point range, led by 34 points in the paint for NAU as
Carson Towt hit double-digit rebounds with ten.
Coming out of halftime, the Jacks found their groove, holding Nelson scoreless for three and a half minutes while hitting a 6-0 run to start as
Oakland Fort sunk his first three pointer of the night to heat things up, as the Jacks followed up with a 10-0 run.
Northern Arizona closed out the game shooting 58.7 from the field, going 63.2 percent in the second half alone, while holding the Warriors to 36.2 percent from the field on the night.
Five Lumberjacks finished in double-digits following McLaughlin's 30, as Towt picked up 16,
