Sophie Glancey Claims Third Big Sky Player of the Week Award

FARMINGTON, Utah (Feb. 13, 2024) – After scoring 30 points in back-to-back games last week, Northern Arizona University women's basketball player Sophie Glancey has been named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference announced this afternoon.

It's the fourth-straight weekly honor the Lumberjacks have claimed and the fifth overall this season.

The Boise, Idaho, native started off the week scoring a career-high 30 points in a win at Montana. After being tied at the half, Glancey poured on 16 points in the third quarter to help give the Lumberjacks the lead for good. In the win, she was a career-best 14-for-21 (66.7%) from the field and 2-for-2 from the free throw line while adding eight rebounds, a block and a career-high three steals in 28 minutes.

Glancey backed her performance with another 30 points in a victory at Montana State, this time adding 14 in the fourth quarter to help NAU secure the win. She was efficient again, making 13-of-18 (72.2%) from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line, adding seven rebounds, and an assist, steal and block apiece.

On the week, the sophomore averaged 29.4 minutes, 30.0 points, 7.5 points, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. She owned a field goal percentage of 69.2 percent, connecting on 27 of her 39 attempts from the field and was perfect at the charity stripe, making 6-of-6.

Glancey has nearly doubled her production from her freshman season and has been taking the league by storm during Big Sky action. In conference-only games, she ranks first in scoring (19.4 ppg), third in rebounding (7.9 rpg) and first in offensive rebounds per game (3.0), first in field goal percentage (83-148, 56.1%) and second in blocks (1.1 bpg).

In 11 conference games, she's scored in double figures 10 times with nine in the other and has five performances of over 20 points including two with 30.

The Lumberjacks stand alone at the top of the Big Sky Conference at 10-1 and 18-6 overall, winning eight-straight games for their longest win streak and best conference record since the 1997-98 season. Northern Arizona goes for its ninth and 10th-straight wins this Thursday and Saturday at Findlay Toyota Court, hosting Sacramento State and Portland State.
