FARMINGTON, Utah (May 13, 2024) – A total of 39 Northern Arizona University student-athletes were named to the Big Sky Conference Winter All-Academic team as announced by the league office this afternoon.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at their current Big Sky institution.
For indoor track and field student-athletes, they must have participated in at least half of the team's competitions or competed at the conference championship.
In all, the conference placed 511 indoor track and field, men's basketball and women's basketball student-athletes across 10 institutions on the Winter version of the All-Big Sky Academic team.
The Lumberjacks were represented by 13 men's track and field honorees, 10 for women's track and field, nine for women's basketball and six on the men's basketball team. Of the 39 selections, 11 student-athletes hold a perfect 4.0 GPA with 29 boasting GPAs over a 3.5.
The indoor track and field teams swept the Big Sky Conference indoor titles for the fourth consecutive year with the men's team placing fourth at the NCAA Championships. Women's basketball advanced to the title game for the third-straight season, setting a program record with 25 wins, while the men's team placed two on All-Big Sky teams.
