RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2025) — The Northern Arizona women's diving team wrapped up the third day of the Lancer Diving Invite, hosted by California Baptist, with four Lumberjacks finishing in the top five.
"It was great to see them all perform strongly and consistently," head diving coach Nikki Kelsey said. "Victoria was excellent, and it was exciting to see our team finish second, third, fourth, and fifth."
Graduate student Victoria Knapp topped the preliminaries with a score of 295.10 and secured second place in the finals with a score of 287.90.
Valentina Lopez Arevalo of San Diego State swept first place in all three diving event finals, posting scores of 302.25 in the 3-meter, 287.85 on platform, and 289.15 in today's 1-meter event.
Margaret Wesche claimed third place in the finals with a score of 268.95. Mirroring her performance from the previous day, she climbed three spots from her preliminary score of 256.40.
Senior Kendall Marquez took fourth place with a final score of 265.80, also improving three spots from her preliminary round score of 254.85, which had placed her seventh.
Grace Wesche finished second in the preliminaries with a score of 273.55. She earned fifth place in the finals with a score of 263.50.
The Lumberjacks will next compete at their Spring edition of the Lumberjack Diving Invite, held from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at the Wall Aquatic Center. Before that, the swimmers will travel to Utah Tech for a meet from Jan. 24 to 25.
