FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (October 19, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's soccer team played its last home game of 2025 to a 2-2 draw with Idaho State on Sunday afternoon at Lumberjack Stadium in Big Sky Conference action.
Goal scorers for NAU (4-4-7, 1-2-3 Big Sky) were
Erin O'Connor and
Avery Ott, who collect their first and sixth goals of the season, respectively.
Micala Boex provided an assist on Ott's score for her team-leading sixth helper on the year, with Ott leading the way in shots for the 'Jacks with five.
Isabella Winton and Madison Culp recorded the scores for Idaho State (5-8-3, 2-3-1 Big Sky), with Saydree Cook and Paige Harris providing helpers on Winton's goal.
Reece Reichwald made her 14th start between the posts and made two saves in just under 20 minutes of action, with
Lexi Saveski playing the remaining 70 while making four saves. NAU outshot the Bengals 21-16, including a 15-6 differential in the second period. The 'Jacks also worked a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.
ISU took the first two shots of the game, both off-target. The Lumberjacks began testing the Bengal keeper in the eighth minute with a pair of shots from
Katie Willoughby, both off corners.
The Bengals then opened the scoring in the 13th minute with Winton's score off a transition, and forced another save from Reichwald shortly after in the 15th minute. NAU weathered a flurry of shots from the Bengal attack, with
Madisyn Marchesi asking the next question for NAU with a header off another corner opportunity in the 29th minute.
Kaylee Muniz found the next best opportunity for the equalizer, with a shot that was just a tad high.
O'Connor then knotted things up with a goal straight from a corner kick in the 44th minute to make it 1-1 at the half.
The Lumberjacks began the second half aggressively, as they took the first eight shots of the period and did not allow a shot from ISU until the 60th tick. Ott's goal arrived off a great transition in the 68th minute to give NAU a 2-1 advantage. However, the lead was short-lived as Culp scored her goal off a rebounded shot in the 72nd minute.
Ott got another pair of shots in the 74th minute, that hit the post and went just high. O'Connor then took a shot that was saved by the top woodwork in the 79th minute off a free kick opportunity as NAU searched for the lead. The Lumberjacks had a few more chances down the stretch, but could not find the back of the net. On the other end, Saveski kept ISU knocking on the door, ultimately leading to the draw.
Following this weekend's action,
Micala Boex is now leading the league in points per game (1.33), and tied for first in total points (20). Boex's seven goals also place the junior in a three-way tie in first place for total goals on the season.
Northern Arizona will hit the road this week, heading to the pacific northwest to take on Eastern Washington on Friday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. Mountain Standard Time and will be streamed on ESPN+.
