Kolbe Katsis Named Big Sky Special Teams Player of the Week

FARMINGTON, Utah (November 10, 2025) – Kolbe Katsis earned his first career Big Sky Player of the Week honor on Monday, receiving the top Special Teams award from the league office following his 100-yard kick return touchdown against Northern Colorado.

Sacramento State's Rodney Hammond was the Big Sky's Offensive Player of the Week and Montana State's Caden Dowler was the Defensive Player of the Week.

Katsis provided the highlight of the night in NAU's 49-10 Homecoming win over Northern Colorado on Saturday, ripping off a 100-yard kick return touchdown right before halftime. It was NAU's first kickoff return for a touchdown since Elijah Marks returned one, also against Northern Colorado, on Sept. 30, 2017.
Katsis' score was game-changing as it came immediately after Northern Colorado scored a touchdown to trim NAU's lead to 21-10. His return gave the Lumberjacks a 28-10 halftime lead and NAU held onto the momentum throughout the second half, shutting the Bears off the scoreboard.

The kick return touchdown was Katsis' third of his career, but first as a Lumberjack. He had one touchdown each during the 2022 and 2023 seasons at Pittsburg State.

With 194 all-purpose yards in the win on Saturday, Katsis is ninth in the FCS with 129.4 all-purpose yards per game. He also leads the country in kick return average with 34.2 yards per return.

NAU, who moved back into the Stats Perform Top 25 at No. 24 this week, plays its final home game of the season on Saturday versus Cal Poly at 2 p.m. MST at Findlay Toyota Field at the Walkup Skydome.
