NAU Women’s Basketball Ready to Tip-Off the 2025-26 Season
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 2, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team is set to begin the 2025-26 season on the road against New Mexico in the season opener for both teams.

The Lumberjacks will face the Lobos in Albuquerque on Monday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. Mountain Standard time. The game will be streamed on the Mountain West Network, with live stats available here.

NAU begins a new era following two historic seasons from 2023-2025, under new head coach Laura Dinkins. The 'Jacks finished the 2024-25 season with a 27-8 record, including a 16-2 mark in Big Sky Conference play for a second-place regular season finish. NAU then reached the second round of the WBIT after earning its first-ever bid to the tournament.

Alongside Dinkins and a new staff, the 'Jacks return two players to the roster this season and welcome 13 new talents to Flagstaff. Senior Audrey Taylor and redshirt freshman Faith Curry are the returners, with graduate transfer Simone Morris highlighting the newcomers as she brings four years of NCAA experience to the squad.

New Mexico landed fourth out of 12 teams in the Mountain West preseason poll, with junior guard Destinee Hooks earning a spot on the Preseason All-Conference Team. Hooks scored in doubles figures in 15 contests last season, averaging 14 points per game and highlighted by a season-high 27 points against UNLV.

The Lobos finished the 2024-25 season 18-14, including an 11-7 mark in league play. UNM fell in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament to San Diego State, 63-53.

The Lumberjacks also began last season in Albuquerque and took a dramatic 80-78 victory over the Lobos for their first win in the all-time series (1-6). Six out of the seven meetings between the two schools have occurred in Albuquerque. It is also the seventh consecutive season that NAU will open its season on the road.
