Box Score OGDEN, Utah (November 22, 2025) – Isaiah Eastman scored two touchdowns in his final game as a Lumberjack and
Mikale Greer returned an interception for a touchdown in No. 23 Northern Arizona's 48-28 loss to Weber State in the Red Rock Rivalry game.
Pending an at-large berth in the NCAA FCS Playoffs, the Lumberjacks' season will come to an end at 7-5 overall and 4-4 in league play.
"I told our 28 seniors that we love them and we appreciate everything they've given to this program," said head coach
Brian Wright. "They've changed the culture of a program where we're playing meaningful football in the last game of the season. That's something that hasn't been done here a whole bunch, so we're thankful for them and they'll do great things."
The Wildcats outgained the Lumberjacks, 474-303, including a 197 on the ground with four rushing touchdowns.
Three NAU seniors accounted for the Lumberjacks' four touchdowns with Eastman posting his first career multi-score game. Eastman bookended NAU's scoring, rushing 10 yards for the first score and tiptoeing in the back of the end zone for a 7-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
Right before halftime, Greer notched his first interception of the season and his sixth of the Lumberjack and returned it 42 yards for NAU's first pick-6 in three years.
Kolbe Katsis reached the end zone for the 10th time this season through the air and finished his collegiate career with eight receptions and 135 yards.
Weber State received the opening kickoff and marched 75 yards on six plays to grab the initial 7-0 lead. The Wildcats then attempted an onside kick on the ensuing kickoff, but the ball failed to travel 10 yards, giving the Lumberjacks possession on the Wildcats' side of the field.
NAU took advantage of the miscue, and a 27-yard catch-and-run by
Jeter Purdy on 4th-and-3, to tie the game. Purdy's fourth down conversion set up Eastman's 10-yard scoring rush, bringing the game even at 7-7 after each team's first possession.
After the teams traded punts, they traded one-play touchdown drives before the end of the first quarter. First, Weber State moved ahead on a 50-yard touchdown run by Spencer Ferguson, only for NAU to immediately respond on a 74-yard strike from
Ty Pennington to Katsis. In addition to his 10th receiving touchdown, the score put Katsis over the 1,000-yard mark, as he became the first Lumberjack to hit both marks since 2019.
The score remained tied until midway through the second quarter until Kingston Tisdell tossed a 16-yard touchdown to Ferguson in what turned out to be the game-winning touchdown as the Wildcats led the rest of the way. Although Weber State padded its lead with a field goal and appeared poised to take a 24-14 halftime lead, Greer had other plans.
Greer provided the Lumberjacks with a spark with under a minute in the half and his pick-6 sent NAU into the locker room trailing by three, 24-21.
The momentum was short-lived as Weber State outscored NAU 24-7 in the second half. The Wildcats opened up a 34-21 lead with four minutes left in the third quarter. Facing a 3rd-and-10 midway through the period, Tisdell hit Marvin Sessions for a 61-yard touchdown. On NAU's next drive, Pennington was intercepted by Sione Hala and the Wildcats converted it into a field goal.
Weber State added two fourth quarter touchdowns and NAU scored its only points via Eastman's 7-yard touchdown reception with seven minutes left.
Pennington completed the season with 250 passing yards and two touchdowns, while passing the 3,000-yard mark for the year.
Michael Hurst recorded a career-high 11 tackles as did
Jaylan Wesley, who notched eight tackles.
"This team was so resilient," Wright said. "We had a lot of great moments and a lot of disappointing moments. The guys continued to come to work with a great attitude and put their best foot forward."
