NAU Women’s Basketball Ready for Thanksgiving Tilts in Vegas

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November 24, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team is set for a pair of games surrounding the holiday this week at the UNLV Thanksgiving Turkey Tip-Off. The Lumberjacks will play two neutral contests in the Thomas and Mack Center, starting with Northern Iowa on Wednesday, November 26 at 3:30 p.m. Mountain Standard time and finishing with Creighton on Friday, Nov. 28 at 1 p.m. MST. NAU will look to snap a three-game skid in its first neutral contests of the season.

NAU stands at 1-5 entering this game, following an 87-76 loss to Arizona on Friday. Naomi White registered her sixth game with 20+ points in as many outings, stacking a career-high 28 points, three rebounds and two assists. Simone Morris contributed 13 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting, pulled down six rebounds and dished out three assists, while Layla Davis recorded her second straight game in double figures with 12 points and four rebounds. J'Bionna Robinson produced a career-high-tying three assists and three steals for her second multi-steal game in six minutes off the bench.

White still leads the Big Sky and ranks seventh nationally in both points per game (24.5), and three-point field goals per game (3.67).

Northern Iowa brings a 1-3 record into this game, following a 51-50 win over Creighton in Omaha for its first win of the season. Three Panthers are scoring around eight points per game to lead the offense, Taryn Wharton (8.8), Ryley Goebel (8.5) and Jenna Twedt (8.0). Goebel is collecting seven boards a game and has ten blocks on the year so far. The Panthers are led by head coach Tanya Warren, who is beginning her 19th season at the helm in Cedar Falls. Wednesday's meeting will also mark the inaugural contest between the Lumberjacks and the Panthers, with the last Missouri Valley Conference foe for NAU being Belmont in the 2025 WBIT this past March.

Creighton also stands at 1-3 entering this week, and will face UNLV on Wednesday before meeting the 'Jacks on Friday. The Bluejays landed fifth in the Big East preseason poll. Ava Zediker is scoring 13 points per game on 45% shooting, including 57% from beyond the arc to lead the offense, while Grace Boffeli is pulling down eight boards a game. However, Creighton as a team is shooting just under 35% from the floor and 27.3% from three this year. The Bluejays also sport a longtime head coach in Jim Flanery, who is in his 24th year at the helm in Omaha and has eight trips to the NCAA Tournament, including four straight as of 2025. NAU will also face the Bluejays for the first time in each other's program history.
