FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November. 7, 2025) - In his first season leading Northern Arizona's distance programs, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jarred Cornfield has been recognized as the Big Sky Coach of the Year for both men's and women's cross country, following another conference sweep for the Lumberjacks.
Cornfield's debut year at the helm extended NAU's dynasty on the trails, with both squads capturing their fifth consecutive Big Sky titles in Bozeman. It also marked a personal milestone for the longtime Lumberjack coach, who stepped into the director role in June after nearly a decade shaping the program from within.
Since arriving in Flagstaff in 2015, Cornfield has been instrumental in sustaining the culture that defines NAU Cross Country. His leadership continues to center on developing athletes who compete for one another as much as for championships.
The recognition arrives as NAU prepares for the NCAA Mountain Regional Championships, set for Friday, Nov. 14, in Salt Lake City, where both teams will look to carry their conference momentum into the national postseason.
