Lumberjacks Dominate New Mexico State, Break School Record in Home Dual

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (November. 7, 2025) - Northern Arizona Swimming & Diving put on a show inside the Wall Aquatic Center on Friday afternoon, rolling to a 191.5-108.5 victory over New Mexico State behind a sweep of both diving events, multiple 1–2–3 finishes, and a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Lumberjacks opened the meet with a statement in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Gracie Munk, Cydnie Perkins, Isahbel Krasht, and Kokona Watanabe clocked a 1:40.77 to take first place, just ahead of New Mexico State's A-squad. NAU's B-relay of Kathleen Richter, Trelise Dance, Kaci Kelaher, and Camryn Brown finished fourth at 1:44.58, keeping the early points in Lumberjack control.

The meet closed in record-breaking fashion as Watanabe, Elsa Musselman, Brown, and Munk stormed to a 3:23.98 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, smashing the previous school record and securing the meet's final victory in front of a packed home crowd.

Cydnie Perkins swept the breaststroke events with wins in the 100 (1:01.72) and 200 (2:18.31), later adding another title in the 200 IM (2:05.57). Gracie Munk dominated the backstroke with wins in the 100 (54.63) and 200 (2:02.42), leading off the winning 200 medley relay and anchoring 400 free relay. Elsa Musselman collected a trio of top finishes, taking first in the 200 fly (2:01.55) and 100 fly (54.33) while placing second in the 100 free. Kaci Kelaher and Isahbel Krasht followed closely in butterfly and distance events, helping NAU lock up major points through the middle portion of the meet.

Head coach Andy Johns praised his team's focus and energy throughout the meet.

"Our girls love racing at home, we have the best home-pool advantage up here [at altitude]," said Coach Johns. "The mindset coming in was that we were challenged last week and needed to get a little better, and they did a great job. Attitude is the biggest thing, and they had a great attitude today."

The Lumberjack divers once again swept the podium in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.

Senior Grace Wesche won the 3-meter with a score of 316.20, followed by Margaret Wesche (302.70) and Mackenna Stocker (298.80). On the 1-meter board, Margaret Wesche claimed victory with a 294.23, narrowly edging Grace Wesche (292.88) and Stocker (271.80).

Associate Head Coach / Head Diving Coach Nikki Kelsey also highlighted the team's success on the boards. "To sweep the Aggies is always great for us," said Kelsey. "I'm super excited for what's going to be happening over the next few weeks."

The Lumberjacks took first in 11 of 16 events, showcasing impressive depth across all strokes and distances. NAU's balance between elite sprinting, strong mid-distance depth, and dominant diving carried them to a decisive 83-point margin over the visiting Aggies. The win moves NAU to 2–1 in dual meets this fall, continuing a streak of home dominance in Flagstaff.
