FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (December 16, 2025) – The Northern Arizona women's basketball team will play its last two games of the calendar year and close the non-conference slate of the schedule this week in California.
The Lumberjacks visit Cal State Northridge on Thursday, December 18 at 7 p.m. Mountain Standard time before a quick turnaround to face UC San Diego in La Jolla, California on Saturday, December 20 at 3 p.m. MST. Both contest will be streamed on ESPN+.
NAU brings a 2-9 record into the weekend, following a 95-53 win over Park (Ariz.) in its last home contest of 2025.
Naomi White (30 points, five rebounds, and four steals) and
Madison Watts (16 points and 13 rebounds) both achieved personal milestones in the win, as White notched her first game with 30 points and Watts secured her first double-double for career-highs in both categories.
Watts has achieved career-bests in the 'Jacks last two contests, as she previously recorded 12 points against South Dakota State on Dec. 6. The sophomore is also averaging a team-best 6.2 rebounds per game, ranking tenth in the Big Sky. White's 30-piece launched her back into the top ten in scoring in the country, as she currently sits ninth overall and remains first amongst freshman in the nation (22.6). She still leads the Big Sky in points per game, three pointers per game (3.36) and three-point percentage (41.6%). NAU as a team leads the Big Sky in shooting beyond the arc at 35.1%.
CSUN enters this contest with a 5-4 record, including a 1-1 mark in Big West play. The Matadors most recently took a 66-55 win over San José State at home on Dec. 13. Rita Nazário leads the offense with 14.2 points, while Jite Gbemuotor is grabbing 6.6 boards per game. CSUN was picked ninth in the Big West Preseason Poll and are led by second-year head coach Angie Ned.
UC San Diego stands at 6-4 and 1-0 in the Big West ahead of its contest with NAU, in the final game of 2025 for both teams. The Tritons are the defending Big West Tournament Champions and were picked fourth in the Preseason Poll. Erin Condron was named to the Preseason Coaches Team, as the junior currently leads the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game on a scorching 56.4% from the floor. UCSD is second in the Big West in field goal percentage (42.3%), and third in points allowed (59.1). The Tritons are led by Heidi VanDerveer, the sister of hall of fame head coach Tara VanDerveer and is in her 14th season at the helm in La Jolla.
